How to Motivate, Educate, and Get
Your Patients to Participate In Their Health Care
"Owner’s Manual for the Body" by Jerry Porter, D.C.
Your
patients will discover that there is an accumulation of things that have gone
wrong with their body and realize what needs to be done to fix them.
There are hundreds of things you
can do to make a tremendous difference in your success with your
patients.
Owner’s Manual for the
Body details the things your patients need to know so that
they know they are in the right place to get their body
fixed.
I've written this book as a step-by-step information
resource to help you succeed in creating long term patients who know how to use
necessary products to their benefit.
How did I discover
what patients
should know to get involved with
their own health care?
It is not so much what they
want to know as it is what we NEED them to know. During the first few years of
my doing structural correction, I worked hard to help my patients - but I didn't
get the results that I wanted from it.
It was frustrating to put so
much effort into getting everything with the adjusting right - and then see
patients come in on their next visit having done something to mess up their body
when they were away from my office. Or worse yet, have them discontinue their
care when I know that they haven’t given up sitting on the sofa.
But I didn't give up. I
persevered, trying new things, observing successful communicators, and applying
the lessons I learned from each.
Through trial and error I
gradually developed a more professional - and far more successful - approach to
getting long relationship patients who continually bought and used
products.
As I began to use and refine
my new winning approach, I experienced a big increase in my traffic and product
sales.
It takes time to build a
lasting relationship but if your patients don’t get the basics - FAST – you
won’t get time necessary.
What your
patients will get in this manual:
Section 1 – Introduction: This section sets the groundwork for the manual by
getting patients to see that there are many false ideas extant about how
the body works. Starts them thinking about their own roll in their
health. Section 2 – What Goes
Wrong With Bodies: What will it
take to fix your body? Presents structural biomechanics in an easy to
understand way that makes sense. Reinforces how structural correction
practitioners can get the results they
claim. Section 3 –
Testing: Gets patients to become
aware of how their body is doing by familiarizing them with their
indicators. This is the beginning of them becoming an active participant
in the standing, sitting, and sleeping
protocols. Section 4 – Standing:
Each of the following areas of
shoes is highlighted, explaining what is good and bad about the various
aspects of shoes and their necessary repairs and
replacements. Arch
Supports Toe Box
Instep Heel Height
Insoles Orthotic Dots
Section 5 – Sitting: Sitting Body Mechanics – Explains exactly how badly
patients can mess up their own body and how this happens. Where Can You Sit? – This paves the way for a
lifetime of sitting right, bringing to light all the many places people
sit that they will now need to avoid or correct.
Section 6 – Sleeping: Sleeping Body Mechanics – The sleep system of a firm
mattress and an adjustable pillow is presented with tips on getting
everything just right.
Section 7 – What to Avoid: You don't get the blame – This section
troubleshoots things which, unless you remember to tell each patient about
them, will throw a wrench in your care.

patients,and prospective patients
for less
than $3 each
Even though the
retail price is $12.95, these manuals are inexpensive when bought in quantity,
and are an excellent tool to give away to prospective patients in your
community. There is nothing as sweet as having a new patient come in to see you
who already knows all about what you do, that it will take some time, and that
they will need your products.
